RIAI

Agency: WorkGroup

Founded in 1839, the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland has a broad remit, encompassing advocacy, education, and extensive awards, conference, and publication programs. It also oversees a national registry that determines who in Ireland can use the title ‘Architect’ and display the prestigious RIAI badge. With this power and influence comes the continuing challenge of demonstrating the body’s impartiality, responsiveness, and relevance. The Institute‘s Council recognized that their communications had become dated and scattershot, and engaged WorkGroup for a sweeping rebrand.

WorkGroup rebuilt the RIAI website from the ground up and created an integrated system of type palettes, color palettes, and templates to unify and rationalize the Institute's online presence, printed output, and event branding. They engaged Signal to create a new mark that would work at small sizes and in a variety of environments, while expressing the Institute’s history and the RIAI badge’s authority in more modern terms. After trialling a range of approaches, we proposed a sturdy and streamlined Garalde letter with a hint of lapidary construction. The new mark helps to unify the relaunched site and a rationalized publications program. Branding, web, and print by WorkGroup.
