Stoker

Stoker began as a revival of Miller & Richard’s all-caps Oldstyle Antique No. 6, commissioned by Post Studio for boutique hotel Haddington House. But then we began to wonder what a lowercase and figures might look like. The forms are wide, with exaggerated x-height and open counters. Contrast is pronounced, though not too extreme for text setting. Given the fanglike serifs, it seemed reasonable to name the expanded face after Dracula’s creator. The swooping forms nod to 70s Victorian revivals like ITC Benguiat and the stylized decadence of Dracula’s era. Designed by Seán Mongey at Post and Max Phillips.
