Glass Bottle

Agency: David Wall / McCann Dublin

Situated on Dublin’s Sandymount Strand at the base of the Poolbeg Peninsula, Glass Bottle is a 15-hectare mixed-use waterfront development on the site of a disused industrial quarter. The Peninsula was reclaimed from the marshes of the Liffey in the 18th century and grew to be a major manufacturing hub, known for brick-making, flour-milling, rope manufacturing, and the famous Irish Glass Bottle factory, at the time one of the most modern in Europe.

The irregular circle enclosing the G icon recalls the bottoms of the hand-cast bottles of the factory’s early days. Development plans call for the sustainable, low-carbon construction of offices, hotels, cultural and community spaces, and shops, as well as market-rate, social, and affordable housing. The type system features our Tenon and Ballinger Mono typefaces. Branding, web, and signage by David Wall at McCann.
